About Us

We’re Brandon Nicholls and Colin McGrath, the owners of Lost River Fabrication and Zamco Technologies. Our journey started in 2016 when we teamed up to buy Brandon’s late father’s powder coating business in Middleton. From there, we realized we could do even more, so in 2018, we started Lost River Fabrication. Today, our two businesses work together to take almost any metal project from idea to finished product.

We like to think of what we do as more than metal. Sure, we build staircases, railings, trailers, planters, fire pits, and toolboxes, but it’s about solving problems, creating something unique, and helping our customers bring their ideas to life. Every project, big or small, gets the same attention to detail and care.

How We Work

We’re hands-on and problem-solvers at heart. Between Colin’s applied math and physics background and Brandon’s engineering experience, we approach challenges creatively. Whether it’s developing custom software to streamline jobs or finding innovative solutions for unique projects.

We also love to give back. Our My Metal Rescue program produces metal silhouettes of dogs, cats, and other animals, donating five dollars from every sale to local animal rescue groups each month. It’s a fun way to combine our passion for metalwork with supporting our community.

Our Team

When we started, Zamco had just three employees. Now, together with Lost River, we have over 30 talented people working across three adjacent buildings. We try to build more than just products, we build a culture. Weekly team lunches double as brainstorming sessions, safety check-ins, and a chance to make sure everyone is aligned and inspired.

Why We're Different

We’re not just a fabrication shop. We’re a hybrid solution. We can handle custom one-off projects, large production runs, and anything in between. We work closely with our customers, helping with design, prototyping, and scaling up to full production. Our industry leading Custom Quote Tool makes ordering laser-cut sheet metal and tube quick and easy, so you can spend less time waiting and more time creating.

At the end of the day, what drives us is helping people make their ideas real. Whether you’re an entrepreneur with a new product or a company looking for a trusted partner, we love turning concepts into finished, high-quality products. That’s why we do what we do and why we love it.
